Biofloc System: Power Consumption, Revenue, and Carbon Absorption
Biofloc technology is an innovative aquaculture method that promotes efficient resource utilization while enhancing environmental sustainability. This calculator provides insights into power consumption, revenue generation, and carbon absorption based on the number of bio flocs in a system.
Assumptions Used in the Calculator
- Biofloc Dimensions: Each biofloc tank is assumed to have a diameter of 6 meters and a height of 1 meter, resulting in a total volume of: ฯร(3^2)ร1 = 28.27ย cubicย meters
- Azolla Growth Rate: Azolla, a fast-growing aquatic plant, increases in biomass by 35% per day. The initial biomass is assumed to be at maximum capacity (1 kg per cubic meter), meaning each biofloc starts with 28.27 kg of Azolla.
- Revenue Streams:
- 70% of the daily Azolla growth is used for feedstock.
- 30% is sold to farmers at a price of Rp 20,000 per kg.
- Revenue is calculated both daily and monthly.
- Power Consumption:
- Estimated at 10 watts per cubic meter, covering aeration and water circulation.
- Each biofloc consumes: 28.27ร10=282.7W28.27 \times 10 = 282.7W
- Total power usage depends on the number of bio flocs.
- Carbon Absorption:
- Azolla absorbs 0.2 kg of COโ per kg of biomass.
- The carbon sequestration rate is calculated based on the total daily Azolla growth.
