Pyrolysis Model Conjugate Heat Transfer Simulation on Simscale – Vegantra Amayko Siaga – 2106658811 – Sustainable Energy Conversion

Assalamualaikum Wr Wb. In this post, I’m going to share my result of simulation of pyrolysis model on conjugate heat transfer using Simscale

CAD Design ; Using 2 pipe inlet and 2 pipe Outlet. The volume is around 1m3 added in fin in the inside

First Run : Inlet temp 500 degree celcius

  • The color scale at the bottom indicates temperature in Kelvin (K), ranging from 298.1 K (room temperature, ~25ยฐC) to 773.2 K (~500ยฐC).
  • Warmer regions are represented by yellow and orange, while cooler regions are in purple and blue.

Thermal Zones:

  • The purple and blue areas represent cooler regions, likely where heat dissipation or less thermal activity occurs.
  • The symmetrical heat distribution suggests uniform heating or reaction kinetics on both sides of the model.

Recap : This distribution highlights the thermal dynamics of the pyrolysis process, where high temperatures drive material decomposition into char, volatiles, and gases. It also suggests potential areas for optimizing heat transfer or reactor design.

Challenges : The middle of the reactor remains in black color which means in the cold temperature (around 25-30 degree celcius). Another simulation has been done to reach optimal temperature in the middle, by increasing the inlet temparature by 750 and 1000 degree celcius, but the color stays black.
